Retinal diseases

Retinal diseases are many and have different causes; some could be related to systemic diseases (diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, retinal artery occlusion, etc.), others could be inherited (retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt macular dystrophy etc), others could be age related, others with unknown causes.

Among the most frequent of these are: age related macular degeneration, central sierous corioretinopathy, macular surface diseases (cellophane maculopathy, macular pucker) and cystoid macular edema. Retinal disease treatment depends on the disease. Some require medical treatment, others surgical while still others cannot at present be effectively treated.
