Myopia

In a myopic eye light rays are focused on the front of the retina (the eye bulb is longer than it should be and/or the refractive power of the cornea-lens is excessive). Myopic patients have blurred distant vision. Usually myopia onsets during youth and stabilizes after growth; a rare malignant myopia progressively worsens. Over the years myopic patients can develop a higher incidence of retinal diseases. Periodic monitoring of the retina is very important, even after performing refractive surgery.
